Today’s Adventure in Food was huitlacoche: corn kernels infected by the “corn smut” fungus. In America, the corn would generally be considered diseased, and thrown out. In Mexico, it’s considered a delicacy, and sold for a premium price.

Whirlwind days of frenzy

Much to do this week. Much of it should have been done last week, of course, or perhaps last month, or even last year. As a Master of Procrastination, I am a wizard at not getting things accomplished. Indeed, most people assume that I’m a Doctor of Procrastination but, I’ve put off getting my Ph.D. in the field. That’s how good I am.

Tonight’s adventure in food was (and is) Vietnamese noodles. The English part of the name only says “Vegetarian Noodles”, which is odd. Are there noodles made of meat? I guess egg noodles wouldn’t be acceptable to a serious vegetarian.

There is a bridge, near Atlanta, named “Dick Hunter Bridge”. No foolin’. If that weren’t funny enough, I worked at an office there that had a gay man named “Hunter”. Life is all too silly, sometimes.

Oblivion humor

If you think that I play Oblivion a lot, you’d be wrong. I play it much more than that. I could wish that it still had that brand-new, strange new world appeal to it but, at this point, it’s more of a meditation device. I know, more or less, how the next few hundred hours are going to play out. It’s still reasonably fun but, I don’t really have to think about it. It’s like driving for a few thousand miles… kind of lets the mind wander. Next best thing to being stoned and, a hell of a lot more legal.
