Those were the days, my friend…
April 29, 2007
“Those were the days, my friend.
We thought they’d never end.
We’d sing and dance, forever and a day.
We’d live the life we choose,
we’d fight a never-lose,
for we were young and sure to have our way.”

Flyin’ in a jet airliner
April 28, 2007
I ran out this morning on a desperate quest for another chair. I only had one chair and a sofa, which wasn’t terribly adequate for company. Thrift stores, ho!
Adventures in Food and Party Time!
April 26, 2007
Today’s Adventure in Food was huitlacoche: corn kernels infected by the “corn smut” fungus. In America, the corn would generally be considered diseased, and thrown out. In Mexico, it’s considered a delicacy, and sold for a premium price.
Whirlwind days of frenzy
April 25, 2007
Much to do this week. Much of it should have been done last week, of course, or perhaps last month, or even last year. As a Master of Procrastination, I am a wizard at not getting things accomplished. Indeed, most people assume that I’m a Doctor of Procrastination but, I’ve put off getting my Ph.D. in the field. That’s how good I am.
Vietnamese noodles, and the death of a hot-pot
April 24, 2007
Tonight’s adventure in food was (and is) Vietnamese noodles. The English part of the name only says “Vegetarian Noodles”, which is odd. Are there noodles made of meat? I guess egg noodles wouldn’t be acceptable to a serious vegetarian.
Breakfast: the most important lunch of the day
April 23, 2007
Today’s breakfast was corn chips, beans, and salsa.
That would drive my dear old Dad crazy. “What kind of food is that to have for breakfast?”
Dick Hunter Bridge
April 21, 2007
There is a bridge, near Atlanta, named “Dick Hunter Bridge”. No foolin’. If that weren’t funny enough, I worked at an office there that had a gay man named “Hunter”. Life is all too silly, sometimes.
Persona non grata
April 21, 2007
I ran across the following on another blog, not too long ago. While I’m inclined to think that Jung was a quack, this particular analysis had a lot to say to me.
Oblivion humor
April 20, 2007
If you think that I play Oblivion a lot, you’d be wrong. I play it much more than that. I could wish that it still had that brand-new, strange new world appeal to it but, at this point, it’s more of a meditation device. I know, more or less, how the next few hundred hours are going to play out. It’s still reasonably fun but, I don’t really have to think about it. It’s like driving for a few thousand miles… kind of lets the mind wander. Next best thing to being stoned and, a hell of a lot more legal.
