Do ya know? Perversity of hit-counts

Do ya know?
The blog entries that get the most hits are almost certain not to get feedback. Some of them get many thousands of hits but, hey, apparently they got their feed and went away. Silent data-sucking in the night.
Statistically, those are the most useful articles, and I do appreciate the views. On the other hand, though, I must say that I attach much more importance to the posts that people actually respond to. (Yes, “to which people actually respond”, thank you, but that’s stuffy as all hell.)
Mmm. Call me a geek (”you’re a fucking GEEK!) … thank you… but I think there’s a fairly simple algorithmic solution in there, somewhere. I’m tempted to look for it. Don’t imagine other people haven’t, already.
Thing is, this is my site, for the exact purpose of saying what I have in mind. Though, if I were to be tempted, it would be more in the direction of posts that provoke feedback. I like to hear what you have to say. On the gripping hand, though, it would be a pointless loop if I optimized for feedback, unless I were running for Congress. I run this site to say what I’d like to say.
Don’t think that others share the same sensibilities. There’s a game afoot. We’re mostly playing it.
Do ya know how you can be coaxed into answering the wrong questions? I’ll have to talk about that later. It’s a different issue, sort of, but one thing does lead into another, which is really the point.
Let’s just say that the questions asked, and the way the questions are asked, can frame your whole state of mind when answering the questions. That’s more than a little important. A man can choose your answer just by picking the right way to ask the question. Be damned careful about believing in surveys.
